Monarch passengers have been enjoying some superb wildlife viewing over the summer months including a very exciting visit from a pod of orca whales. Species seen include :- Northern Royal Albatross White Capped Albatross Southern Royal Albatross Bullers Albatross Black Browed Albatross Salvins Albatross Blue Penguins NZ Fur Seals and their pups NZ Sea Lions Hectors and Dusky Dolphins Fairy Prions Sooty Shearwaters Giant Petrels Cape Petrels Shags (Stewart Island and Spotted) Gulls (Black Backed and Red Billed) With our ½ day Cruise and Bus options passengers also are able to have a guided land tour of Penguin Place to view the rare Yellow Eyed Penguins (they are in the reserve all day through to March with their chicks. In other words – lots of wildlife and over the rest of our summer season (October to early April) that wide range of wildlife is likely to continue.
