  1. Scenic Bus Tour
Hop aboard our mid afternoon bus and travel the scenic roads of the Otago Peninsula.

  2. Monarch Wildlife Cruise
See albatross, furseals and more as you cruise out through the Otago Harbour entrance, around the spectacular Taiaroa Head. Enjoy uninterrupted views of the world's only mainland breeding colony of royal albatross. We aim to get you close to these magnificent birds as they glide across the water. The cruise will continue a short way out to sea, where we often find other albatross and seabird species. Sometimes we are lucky and see blue penguins swimming or spot other marine mammals like NZ sealions or hectors & dusky dolphins.

  3. Royal Albatross Centre Tour
After some time exploring the centre’s displays you’ll be taken on a special one hour tour. This includes a short movie about the royal albatross followed by a visit to the hilltop observatory. Here you will watch as these huge birds soar past on three metre wings and interact with their chicks around their nest sites.

  4. Fish & Chips (dinner included in price)
At the conclusion of the observatory tour you will have time to relax, enjoy the sunset and enjoy a dinner, prepared by the Albatross Cafe. Please advise us of any dietary requirements when booking your tour.

  5. Blue Penguin Tour
A short time after dusk your guide will take you down a short walk to an exclusive viewing platform. Watch as groups of blue penguins return ashore, waddling up the beach only metres away. This is the only blue penguin colony in the country that allows photography, just make sure your flash is turned off!

What time will my tour finish?
The finish time will change as summer develops. In October the earliest finish time is approximately 10:15pm. At the height of summer in Dec/Jan it may be as late as 11:45pm.

How many blue penguins will I see?
Depending on the time of year and breeding cycle we spot between 40 and 200 birds.

Will it be cold?
It is often slightly cooler and windier during the Wildlife Cruise, you will be provided with complimentary warm coats and binoculars whilst aboard the boat. We suggest bringing warm clothing with you as the tour will finish after dark.
